I've been meaning to share why we decided to plant Sift's flag in El Segundo. It's a story about finding our place in a community with deep roots in aerospace innovation.
From the early days of aviation to today's cutting-edge space exploration, El Segundo has long been the beating heart of future accelerationism. It's where my co-founder and I earned our stripes at SpaceX, tackling the gravity-bending challenges of frontier machines and their design.
It's the difference between watching a rocket launch on TV and feeling the ground shake beneath your feet.
When you're crafting tools for companies reaching for the stars, being close to the action is invaluable. In El Segundo, innovation isn't just something you hear about — it's something you experience. It's the difference between watching a rocket launch on TV and feeling the ground shake beneath your feet.
Our first office was inside the factory of Parallel Systems, a setup that turned our neighbors into our first collaborators. This proximity to our customers has been crucial to our growth. It's allowed us to get real-time feedback and truly understand the needs of the companies we're building for.
This hands-on, collaborative approach is something we learned at SpaceX. In fact, it's humbling to think that 20 years ago, SpaceX itself started in this very neighborhood, pioneering a new era of space exploration with that same ethos. Now, we're part of a new wave of companies hoping to make a similar impact, carrying forward that spirit of innovation and close collaboration. Who knows which El Segundo startups today will be household names in 2044?
We also want to do our part to contribute to the community that’s helped us. Inspired by the vibrant local art scene, we've designed a mural on our building. And we also want to send a massive thank you to Mayor Drew Boyles and the city council for keeping El Segundo a launchpad for businesses like ours.
El Segundo isn't just where we work — it's where we're building the future, one line of code at a time. And we're proud to call it home.
